It’s that font that every small business thinks communicates exactly what their business is all about. Maybe it’s massage, aroma therapy, a restaurant menu, lawn care, book store, etc. I’ve seen it everywhere and I think I’m going to start taking photos of all of them and putting them up here for a good laugh and finger pointing.
In my small town I come across this font at least twice a day. It instills a passion in me to reach out and give a quick slap to whom ever the unlucky individual is who used it. Just like Rob Paravonian hates Pachelbel’s Canon in D, I hate the font Papyrus.
Some fellow Papyrus haters:
- Here’s the Flickr group for papyrus hate.
- Similar designer’s outcry for his hatred towards Papyrus.
- Here’s a wonderful t-shirt about how much Papyrus sucks.
- This blogger is expressing his hatred for the asinine font that is Papyrus.
- Logo’s using Papyrus that fail epically.
My girlfriend recently set up this Flickr I hate Papyrus group that she’s been tormenting me with as well.

Amen!
I am a reformed papyrus lover… I though it was “so cool”… then I started hanging out with awesome web designers, print designers and overall “good design people”. I respected these people’s work. They gently showed me the error of my ways pointing out that many photographers abuse papyrus.
I have been on a mission ever since to educate the less informed. I try to not be hurtful or insulting. If it were Ariel or Times New Roman we’d be OK, but seriously…. people have businesses and use this font to be “creative” ad some sort of “unique” business identity…. Major fail!
